Not Habitat!

Their chief mechanic (Hal) is violently
against recumbents. The couple of times I went in there with mine just
to buy parts, he went on a rant about recumbents and the people who ride
them.

My favorite ones BY FAR are are: little shop (forgot the name) on
West 77th, between Amsterdam and Broadway (closer to Broadway - he's reported
to be the best mechanic in town), and Conrad's (41st up on Tudor City, between
1st & 2nd Avenues). I always service my own bikes, but on both these
shops they have been very friendly, got to ride my bikes, and on the 77th
street store the guy has even done a couple of emergency services for me free
of charge. Conrad's also do great work, but they charge quite a bit for
replacements, and don't carry anything other than top-of-the-line parts.
