Despite the financial meltdown that clobbered our investments, 2008 was another good year for us. We unofficially got engaged in February, and Steve continued to move his stuff gradually from his town house in Bedminster to Ellens house in Hamilton Square, where he now spends most of his time. We havent made any plans yet for the wedding, however. As usual, the highpoints of 2008 were the various trips we took and the people we visited. In January we packed up the car and headed north for a post holiday celebration with Steves brother Tom and his family in the Boston area. From there we continued north into New Hampshire and met up with the Princeton Ski Club at the Mt. Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, a grand old hotel in the midst of the White Mountains. There we enjoyed three splendid days of downhill and cross country skiing. The years major trip came in June when we embarked on a two week trip to Italy with the same group weve traveled with on other sailing trips. For the first week, our group had its own tour bus to take us on a whirlwind tour of the country, with overnight stays in Venice, Florence and Rome, as well as shorter visits to Pisa, Perugia and Assisi along the way. Of course, one week isnt really enough time to do Italy, but the tour provided a great opportunity to see some of the places we didnt get to on our trip to Italy in 2006. The second week in Italy was spent on a chartered sailboat cruising the waters between the Italian island of Sardinia and the French island of Corsica. Our itinerary gave us plenty of time in various ports, along with the opportunity for some additional sightseeing. With our friends Bob and Joanne serving as skipper and galley administrator, we enjoyed smooth sailing amidst gorgeous scenery. Much of the rest of the summer was spent at Ellens house on Long Beach Island. In addition to the usual pleasures of the Jersey shore, we put some more miles on our tandem recumbent cruising up and down the island. In August, we made the annual trek to Maine, spending time with Steves brother Tom and sister-in-law Carlie at the familys lakeside cottage. On the way up there, we stopped in Mystic Connecticut to visit the Mystic seaport and see Ellens friends the Millers. On the way back, we met our friends the Mullers in Boothbay Harbor and took a boat out to Monhegan Island, where we spent the night and revisited places where Steve had gone for family vacations back in the 50s. In September, we spent five fun-filled days at Disney World with Ellens daughter Donna and her boyfriend Rob, then rented a car and drove around central Florida for five more days, visiting our friends the Kahns near Sarasota and seeing the Kennedy Space Center. The years final major trip was a drive out to Erie, Pa. with Ellens sister Janice to visit Ellens nephew Peter, his wife Jenny, and their newborn baby Emma. In February, Steve used his frequent flyer miles to attend a family get together in England. He and his brother spent four days visiting cousins in Reading, a pleasant city located about an hour west of London. Steves major bike trip for the year consisted of a weekend in Havre de Grace, Maryland with a group called Country Roads Bicycle Tours. To make the trip more of an adventure, Steve traveled from home to Maryland on his recumbent bike, making the 135 mile trip in two days. Steves article about last years cycling adventure, Taking the Scenic Route from New Jersey to Massachusetts on a Bike and Eight Ferry Boats, was published in the Easy Riders Recumbent magazine last winter. (If youd like to see it, contact Steve at sfriedlander2@aol.com.) Ellen continued to be active with her church, serving on the Stewardship Committee and organizing the annual Rummage Sale and Lasagna Dinner. She is also Treasurer of the local Sigma Kappa alumnae chapter. Steve tried to make himself useful by becoming the membership secretary for the Princeton Ski Club collecting dues, assisting in club mailings, and maintaining the clubs database of members. As the new year approaches, were keeping our fingers crossed that the political turmoil in Thailand wont disrupt our next major trip, a three week tour of the country in February with the sailing group. Have a happy, healthy, and joyous holiday season and please keep in touch! =F{ @ A y o x # ' . / 5 = k Ŷzzkkzz\hC~h6WCJOJQJaJhC~h7+CJOJQJaJhC~h%rCJOJQJaJhC~hICJOJQJaJhC~hCJOJQJaJhC~hzCJOJQJaJhC~hrCJOJQJaJhC~hH5CJOJQJaJhr5CJOJQJaJhC~hn5CJOJQJaJhH5CJOJQJaJ# j k nph$]^a$gd3'$]^a$gd@$|0]|^0a$gdH$|0]|^0a$gdH$u0L]u^0`La$gdH c t { A<_zĵyj[hC~hZ CJOJQJaJhC~h8|CJOJQJaJhC~hCJOJQJaJhC~hU#KCJOJQJaJhC~hH;CJOJQJaJhC~h7+CJOJQJaJhC~hrCJOJQJaJhC~h%rCJOJQJaJhC~hzCJOJQJaJhC~h6WCJOJQJaJhC~h@LCJOJQJaJ#8<NU\exyswx񸩸|mm^mOhC~h@(CJOJQJaJhC~h9/?CJOJQJaJhC~h?HCJOJQJaJhC~hICJOJQJaJhC~hU#KCJOJQJaJhC~h|CJOJQJaJhC~hZ CJOJQJaJh3'CJOJQJaJhC~h7+CJOJQJaJhC~hj&CJOJQJaJhC~hH;CJOJQJaJhC~h8|CJOJQJaJlp|?TchopZgӵċĦ||l\l|hC~hmo6CJOJQJaJhC~h9/?6CJOJQJaJhC~h9/?CJOJQJaJhC~hmoCJOJQJaJh@CJOJQJaJhC~hN'HCJOJQJaJhC~hICJOJQJaJhC~hxCJOJQJaJhC~h?HCJOJQJaJhC~h@(CJOJQJaJhC~hj&CJOJQJaJ -JTUw#ghio~6klvw⥵ӵĖxxiiiiӵiihC~hICJOJQJaJhC~h&3CJOJQJaJhC~hCJOJQJaJhC~hCJOJQJaJhC~h9/?6CJOJQJaJhC~hmoCJOJQJaJhC~hxCJOJQJaJhC~hN'HCJOJQJaJhC~h9/?CJOJQJaJhC~hPYCJOJQJaJ'hi$|0]|^0a$gdH$|]^|a$gdH$]^a$gd@ Ǹ񸬝hC~hCJOJQJaJhC~hu/CJOJQJaJh3'CJOJQJaJhC~hCJOJQJaJhC~h?[CJOJQJaJhzxCJOJQJaJhC~hmoCJOJQJaJhC~h7+CJOJQJaJ21h:p/ =!"#$% @@@ NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA@D Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k(No List6U@6 u/ Hyperlink >*B*phHH Balloon TextCJOJQJ^JaJ,jk n p hi000000000000000000000000000 h8RTRRĩRRR\RRR$RR4R4RD4R#*RT#*R#*R"*R"* RT"* R"* R!* R!* RT!*R!*R *R4Rd4R$4R4R4Rd4R$4R4R4Rd4R$4R)R)Rl)R,)R) R)!RL)"R )#R<[$RZ%Rf&R4'RL (R )R4*R>)+RL),RԬ-R).R TT u} uu NNY# , J J S ` ; ; YY !"#$'%&()*+,-./02134567ZZ{zzX__+ 2 R Y Y g A A aa !"#$&'%()*+,-./02134567:77*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsStreet;88*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsaddressB11*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagscountry-region=%%*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceType=$$*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags PlaceName966*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsplace944*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsState855*urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttagsCity 8765466155555651611%$%6$6$%664$%$6%456$$%564615656546416OU J R 33ff8<NUy ! o - J #&-6klvw87Y&3O Z nU(3'@(7+u/H;9/?}/A\FN'HU#K M^vU V-EcFg36jmo|8|x%r6Wr?H{?[-bv|@Lbj-j&@C~PY!EIzHzx@P@UnknownGz Times New Roman5Symbol3& z ArialA& Arial Narrow5& zaTahoma"qhOڣ& R!242HP)?-Ec2aNow that Ellen and Steve have both retired, the time has come to write our first Christmas letterSteve FriedlanderSteve FriedlanderOh+'0 4@L` | dNow that Ellen and Steve have both retired, the time has come to write our first Christmas letterSteve Friedlander Normal.dotSteve Friedlander10Microsoft Office Word@l^v@T@bpsQ@u7T՜.+,0H hp| * bNow that Ellen and Steve have both retired, the time has come to write our first Christmas letter Title !"#$&'()*+,./012347Root Entry FK7T91Table`WordDocument4,SummaryInformation(%DocumentSummaryInformation8-CompObjq FMicrosoft Office Word Document MSWordDocWord.Document.89q
