We had 9 riders including myself who showed up to race against the clock this evening. Some of these guys have been racing for many years. Serious kick a$$ riders.
I was thinking that I was going to be blown away.
There were some of the sweetest DF road and Time Trial bikes I have ever seen.
Some of the most feather weight machines I have ever hefted.
It turned out that the course wasn't 6 miles but rather 5.4 miles. It was a big triangle with two 90 degree right hand turns and one 180 degree right hand turn.
Sent out in 1 minute intervals I was given the last place at the start, the slowest riders going out first. I figured that 180 degree turn would be my undoing.
They were right on with the starts except the third from the last to start gained 2 second on the second to the last.
I came in 28 seconds ahead of second place and 30 seconds ahead of third.
I FREAKING WON!!!!!!.........
5.4 miles (8.69 km) in 12 minutes and 54 seconds. My top speed was 29 mph (46.67 km). My average was 25.12 mph (40.43 km).
I'm pretty happy with how I did...........
No bad for an old fart in a little yellow pedal car.
I had a blast.
