I probably take my car to NYC on less than 1 out of 10 trips. Sometimes I
do need my car. For example, I cannot take my dog on the train, so I need
to take my car when Fido is with me. Others may need their car to take heavy
files, luggage or furniture with them.

Also note that our trains and buses are very expensive, and not so quick, so
it may be a lot faster and a little cheaper for a family of 5 to drive than
to use public transportation.
