Funny story!
I pass a group of people frezzin waiting in for the SI Bus along the West Side Hiway around Northmoore st.They are always look so cold,I always feel sorry for them. I'm sure they think exactly the same of me!
I totally forgot I give off steam also when I come to a stop! Some people take a few steps back.
Guess it gets people a little nervous.

Actually, you don't really need a velo to stay comfortable when it's cold. I wear 2 pair of wool socks inside a slightly larger pair of Specialized Defroster waterproof boots; but the real trick is my Mueller Windwrap fairing, the XT (the smallest one they make). In anything above 20º, my tootsies are just fine. The only "parts" that gets really cold at the lower temps are my nose and my fingers, but then only slightly. We generally put out enough heat just moving the pedals. Before an arthritic knee forced me away from running, I used to regularly run to Newark from Maplewood -- exactly 10k -- to catch the train to New York City, wearing only a running jacket and shorts. On really cold days, when I would pass a bus shelter, women huddled together and shivering would often yell out that I was "crazy." The joke of course was on them: Steam was rising off my body while they were freezing cold.- - - - -JOHN TETZ wrote:> Shelly wrote;> >That's why I have to laugh when my neighbors can't believe I still > ride to work in the snow!> .....I don’t necessary ride in the snow but I have been riding just > about every day thru the winter.> The most often asked question is "Do you have a heater in there?"
