Yes, I agree. That guy has some axis II diagnoses going on. I haven't seen him around, but he could still work there. He made disparaging remarks about all bikes, and once threatened to charge me double to replace brake cables because they were internally routed.
On the other hand, all the mechanics are very competent, and one mechanic lent me a tool free of charge to tighten my bottom bracket. (That is usually a big no no for bike shop mechanics.)

Habitat used to be my local shop. But after several really bad experiences with them, I gave up trying.
