Hi Joao,
I would be interested in doing that ride. Mid July would probably be best. I
led a MARS ride from Westbury L.I. yesterday.

There where only 4 of us but we had a nice easy ride.
We should do more rides on Long Island, there's lots to see on roads that
are bike friendy.

I will wait until a few days before to see who is going and pick the
location closest to most.
Rich,
You are closest to Lambertville, Rich and Steve, what works best for you?

Thanks for coming out, people- I was expecting just Steve, OP, & me. The
ride split into two groups- Steve, Burt & I tackled the hills between
Lambertville & Frenchtown, while the Hermans, Old Pokeys & Marty took
the flat route along the river. We met up for food in Frenchtown, then
Burt & I added a few miles going further upriver to Milford. The only
mishaps were Burt losing a pin from his seat strut (we substituted an
Allen wrench & rubber bands) & losing Steve on the return trip. We seem
to have members who are hesitant about the pace of the ride being too
fast- this would be an ideal ride for you. River road is very flat, you
won't get lost if you do fall behind & we all join up eventually. I hope
to see more newbies the next time we hold the ride.

Last weekend I did my first ride in, oh, quite a loooooong while. It turned
out to be a beautiful metric century ride. 66 miles, mostly flat and
downhill with a couple of notable exceptions, mostly on paved trails. So I
wanted to see if there is any interest with some of the NYC locals to do it
as a group one of these weekends.
Start - Grand Central Station, take an early train to Brewster NY.
>From Brewster station, it is about 4.5 miles on an easy road to the north
end of Putnam Trail. Then Putnam Trail for 12 miles, Westchester North
County Trail for 22 miles, 1 mile on a somewhat busy road (sidewalk
available for less adventurous types), 14 miles on the Westchester South
County Trail with a 2-mile hilly detour on back roads and a short stretch on
packed dirt once in the Bronx, 2.5 miles though the Bronx on not too busy
roads, then to my place is 8.5 miles nearly all of it on the Hudson Greenway
(your mileage will vary ;) )
Along the route:
