Subject: [Bent] MARS finances

My 2 cents on finances:

I think we should use the money to keep the website/email active.
We may have had a free ride for a while but it's unlikely that will continue forever.
I also think that we should keep up the insurance.
If memory serves it was about $50 a year. (I was unaware that the insurance was no longer in place.)

Steve could you check to see if it is still available and at what cost and whether MARS still qualifies?

I know we don't do a lot of rides but I'm sure whoever is leading a ride would feel more comfortable if there was insurance in place.
Rich has led the majority of rides lately- What's your feeling about insurance?

The Murphy Factor:
The moment we get rid of the money we'll wish we had it for some need we don't envision right now.

IMO if we get rid of the money we're saying MARS is no longer a viable club :-(

Like I said just my 2 cents, at today's exchange rate worth about a penny :-)

Shelly asked about our finances. The MARS treasury still has about $2100 - money left over from about 5 years ago when we used to collect dues ($10/person) and had a few expenses. Since then, there hasn't been any financial activity - we haven't collected dues, our insurance policy lapsed, and our website is dormant.

Any suggestions what to do with the money?
Shelly, are you still the president of MARS?

  Steve Friedlander
MARS Treasurer (as far as I know)

  PS; how are our finances?
