On October 4th and 5th the annual New England Human Powered Vehicle Rally will take place in Burlington Vermont. The web page is www.hpvburlingtonbikefest.org. The gang organizing things in Burlington has reserved some camp sites and is recruiting locals willing to house folks coming from out of town for the week end. The foliage should be great and there's a beautiful bike path running along the shore of Lake Champlain. The tentative plan calls for a ride out to a working farm/educational center on Saturday morning and a human powered expo in the afternoon.
So far we have 4 velomobiles confirmed and several more in the works, possibly even the UVM prototype for a human powered moon buggy. John Tetz and I are taking our homebuilt velomobiles and Ethan Davis hopes to bring the new Borialis fairing to fit over his ICE trike. The expo is a great opportunity to see them up close, ask questions and maybe even take one for a brief ride. Bryan Ball from Bentrider Online will be speaking one of the evenings and there will be a dinner for all the riders. There are a lot of details still evolving so be sure to sign up for the e-updates on the bikefest web page.
If you never been to Burlington, its a hopping little city. There's an active bike scene, arts, and a bunch of micro breweries. Hope to see you there.
Merrill
