[Bent] Can I try your LWB USS?

HI Seth,

While I don't have a lwb right now, my first 'bent was LWB Linear (old
model, not from Peter Stull) that I added bar ends & such to, thngs that
Peter has as standard on his current Linear models. I also added a Zzipper
fairing that really improved both weather protection and aerodynamics. Mine
was a folding model as well.

I can tell you that the seat was one of the most comfortable on any bent I
had tried, including the famed RANS seats. Aside from the somewhat noisy
frame (folder specific) and a steering USS pivot I wished had a little less
play in it (not that it was bad, just something a little less loose wouild
have been nice), it was a fantastic bike. I hadn't cycled regularly in
decades, got an upright as a birthday present from my wife in my late 40's,
a Cannondale T-400 tourer with upgraded components. Great bike, bu after a
year, the seat was really getting to me and the handlebars were making my
hands a bit numb. So I looked for alternatives and found recumbents. Due
to my job at the time I traveled around the country a lot and got to try a
large number of 'bents at various stores. Ultimately, the one I got was the
very first I had ever tried, a Linear lwb bike! It was on a clearance sale
at a shop about an hour's drive from my house, making it easy to try, buy,
and bring home. I bought it in March of that year, and on May 3rd I think
of the same year, I did my first Five Boro Bike Tour, AKA as "Bike New
York"... a 42 mile ride around NYC with 30,000 other riders and no cars! A
Friend on a linear CLWB joined me, and while he finished well ahead of me, I
did the whole thing, including walking a bit up two bridges (one due a cramp
I got as I pedaled up the long Verrazzano Narrows bridge). I hydrated and
eat reasonably well on the ride, used lots of sunscreen, as the day was hot
at around 93 degrees F, and was in fine shape when I got home, aside form my
legs being a bit tired.

I was amazed at having done such a long ride, first ever in my life, after
barely cycling again for such a short period. I later put a bit of
tempurfoam in the seat pad which made riding feel like nothing was under my
tush, very, very, very comfortable, even better than the already great
standard seat!

Peter sells Linear, makes them, and if you didn't try one, go back if you
can and do so.

Just my 50Cents.

Best wishes!

PS: I now ride an Organic Engines Triclops tadpole after having the Linear
for around 6 years.
